Quick answer
What does an AEO agency in Canada do?
An AEO agency Canada brands work with improves how AI search engines describe and cite them. That means testing Canadian buyer prompts in ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and Copilot, fixing crawler access and listings such as Yellow Pages Canada and HomeStars, then reporting citation share monthly against a fixed baseline.
- Google launched AI Overviews in Canada in October 2024 and AI Mode in August 2025.
- Bing holds about a tenth of Canadian searches, so Copilot visibility deserves real effort.
- Competition Act penalties for deceptive marketing reach $10 million or three times the benefit.
- French-language prompts are checked separately, because AI answers differ by language.

When did Canadians get AI Overviews and AI Mode?
AI Overviews arrived in Canada on 28 October 2024, announced on Google's Canadian blog. AI Mode followed on 21 August 2025, when Google expanded it in English to more than 180 countries.
That August expansion was English-only. A later October 2025 update added more than 35 languages, but we do not assume French results behave like English ones; for brands selling in Quebec or nationally in both languages, we run French prompts as a separate set and compare the sources each language cites. Where the two languages cite different directories or publications, the fix plan treats them as separate lists.
Why does Bing matter more for AI search in Canada?
Because Canada has one of the larger Bing audiences among English-speaking markets. StatCounter's September 2026 figures put Google at 85.30% and Bing at 10.06% of Canadian searches.
Bingbot does the crawling behind Copilot; there is no separate Copilot crawler. That makes Bing Webmaster Tools the cheapest high-value step in a Canadian engagement. Its AI Performance report, in public preview since February 2026, shows how often your pages are cited in Copilot and Bing AI summaries, and the June 2026 update added intents, topics, citation share and competitor comparison. We submit sitemaps, switch on IndexNow and read that report before touching content.

How many Canadians use generative AI at work?
A growing share, which matters most for B2B sellers. Statistics Canada found the proportion of workers using generative AI rose from 17% to 30% between September 2024 and July 2025.
Buyers who use AI tools at work tend to bring them into vendor research. For Canadian SaaS, professional services and industrial suppliers, we write prompts the way a procurement lead or department head would phrase them, including comparison and shortlist questions, and record which vendors and review sites each engine names. Those answers become the baseline that later months are compared against.
Which Canadian rules apply to AEO work for AI search?
The Competition Act governs deceptive marketing, including fake reviews, and the Competition Bureau has warned businesses about the penalties. They now reach the greater of $10 million ($15 million for repeat breaches) or three times the benefit gained.
Since 20 June 2025 private parties can also bring deceptive-marketing cases, so a competitor, not just the regulator, can challenge misleading claims. For AEO that rules out bought reviews, undisclosed sponsored posts and inflated comparison pages. We keep claims factual and sourced, and suggest your counsel reviews anything in a regulated category. This is general information, not legal advice.
Which Canadian directories and sources should be accurate?
The ones Canadian buyers and AI engines are likely to meet when checking a business. We audit each for the same name, address, phone, hours and description.
- Google Business Profile for every location, with correct hours and service areas.
- Yellow Pages Canada and HomeStars for local and home-service businesses.
- G2 and Capterra for software, plus LinkedIn company and leader profiles for B2B firms.
- Organization schema with sameAs links that point to the same profiles.
- Reddit and YouTube, which Peec AI lists among the most-cited domains in AI search.
How do ChatGPT and AI Mode handle local questions from Canadians?
Both lean on location signals and listing data rather than your website alone. OpenAI says ChatGPT search uses the user's approximate location from their IP address, draws business listings from trusted third-party providers, and shares location with Bing and specialised data providers when answering local questions.
That ties local AI visibility in Canada back to Bing and to listing accuracy. Google's AI Mode works from your Business Profile and can, where you allow it in the profile settings, call a business to check price or stock on the user's behalf. For multi-location brands we therefore treat every branch profile, its hours and its categories as part of the AEO work, not a separate local SEO task, and we test prompts from the provinces where you actually trade.
How does an AEO agency Canada teams hire remotely work?
We work across Canadian time zones from offices in India and the USA, with calls inside your business day from Pacific to Atlantic time. Written updates and a shared fix list keep everyone aligned between calls.
We found no published Canadian AEO rate cards, so you cannot easily compare local prices. Our answer is a fixed price for each engagement, quoted after a free AEO visibility check, with progress measured on the same prompt set each month.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do you have an office in Canada?
No. Our offices are in India and the USA, and we work remotely with Canadian businesses. Calls are booked within your own working hours, whichever province you are in. Written weekly notes and a shared fix list mean nothing waits for the next meeting.
Does French content help a brand appear in AI answers in Canada?
For French-language questions, it usually needs to exist. Studies of AI Overviews suggest they mostly cite sources in the language of the question, while Peec AI found ChatGPT often runs English searches even for non-English prompts. We test both languages rather than guess.
Is Copilot worth optimizing for in Canada?
Often, yes. Bing handles about one Canadian search in ten, and Bing Webmaster Tools reports Copilot citations for free, so the setup cost is low and the data is first-party.
What are the penalties for fake reviews in Canada?
Under the Competition Act, penalties for deceptive marketing can reach the greater of $10 million, or $15 million for repeat breaches, or three times the benefit. Private parties can also bring cases since June 2025. This is not legal advice.
How do you measure AI search results for Canadian brands?
We rerun a fixed set of Canadian buyer prompts each month and record citations, then add Bing citation share, Search Console's generative AI report and GA4 referral sessions from AI assistants. No one can promise a citation, but the trend is measurable.
